About

Welcome aboard Sarang — a floating home, a creative retreat, and a slower way of living shaped by water, weather, and intention.

This space is shared by Liam Lusk and Sarang herself — a 39-foot traditional narrowboat that offers just enough room to live thoughtfully, without excess. Life here isn’t about constant movement or ticking off miles along the canal network. Instead, it’s about staying still long enough to notice the details: the way light moves across the cabin in the morning, the quiet rhythm of water against the hull, and the small rituals that turn a compact space into something deeply personal.

Living aboard full-time brings a different pace. There’s a balance between comfort and constraint, between creativity and practicality. Every inch matters, every decision has purpose, and every improvement — no matter how small — shapes the way the space feels and functions. This blog is a reflection of that ongoing process: adapting, refining, and learning how to live well within a smaller footprint.

You’ll find a mix of interior projects, clever storage ideas, and design choices that prioritise both form and function. There’s an emphasis on creating warmth and character — layering textures, lighting, and thoughtful details to make the boat feel less like a vessel and more like a home. Alongside that, there’s the reality of boat life: maintenance jobs, seasonal challenges, and the occasional unpredictability that comes with living on the water.

But it’s not all practical. Life aboard Sarang is also about the quieter, more personal moments — slow mornings with coffee, music drifting through the cabin, canal-side walks, and the simple satisfaction of a space that reflects who you are. It’s about embracing a lifestyle that values presence over pace, quality over quantity, and creativity over convenience.

Sarang is more than just a place to live — it’s an evolving project, a creative outlet, and a way of rethinking what “home” really means.
